Changes to Furniture Antidumping Duty

On February 14, 2007, the Federal Register published an effective notice relative to a change in status for antidumping duties on bedroom furniture from China subsequent to a Dept. of Commerce notice dated December 20, 2006. On that date, the Dept. of Commerce published a notice of initiation and preliminary results of an antidumping duty changed circumstances review and intent to revoke, in part, the AD order on wooden bedroom furniture from the PRC. The merchandise covered by this changed circumstances review are beds that are completely upholstered, i. e. containing filling material and completely covered in sewn genuine leather, synthetic leather, or natural or synthetic decorative fabric. To be excluded from antidumping duty, the entire bed (headboards, footboards, and side rails) must be upholstered except for bed feet, which may be of wood, metal, or any other material and which are no more than nine inches in height from the floor.

Additional information may be found in the Federal Register/Vol. 72, No. 30 or by contacting Paul Stolz or Robert Bolling, Import Administration, International Trade Administration, U. S. Department of Commerce (tel: 202-482-4474 and 202-482-3434 respectively).
