Clean Truck Fee Program
The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have selected yet another date to implement the Clean Truck Fee Program (CT Fee). The new date is set for February 18, 2009 as the implementation day to start charging for the program. The CT Fee is part of the long term strategic plans of both ports to reduce fuel emission and air pollution caused by overall port operations.
Trucks, used to transfer the containers in and out of the ports, have been identified as a contributing factor to the increased pollution problem and are therefore the target of this program. The fee is based on a locally received or delivered TEU basis, the amount has yet to be confirmed, but may be set at $35.00 / TEU. This charge applies for all container cargo with port of loading or port of discharge Long Beach or Los Angeles, and does not apply for any on-dock rail movements.
CVI has a direct account set up with both ports and will be able to pay the CT fee on behalf of our customers to avoid any delay with the delivery or pickup of containers.
